Crossover: Shell Scott meets Secret Agent X-9 (Secret Agent Corrigan)

Check this out! I'll definitely be adding this to Crossovers: A Secret Chronology of the World.

I'm also feeling a short Wold-Newtonry essay coming on sometime soon. I think it's about time that Shell Scott was linked into Philip José Farmer's Wold Newton Family.

Since I'm particularly jazzed at discovering this crossover tonight, here's a bonus Shell Scott oriented pic o' the day. :-)

I get the feeling sometimes that CROSSOVERS is gonna be *at least* 1,000 pages. :) All half-kidding aside, this is a great discovery, Win, and I'm looking forward to reading the script.

There is another intereting X-9 crossover. In the Columbo TV-Show Episode "Identity Crisis" from the 1975 season, David White (who played Larry tate in Bewitched) plays the CIA Director.

The following blurb about this appearance is from IMDB:

When the Director reveals himself and his Agency's involvement in the murder to Lt. Columbo, he shows a card identifying himself as "Phil Corrigan, Secret Agent X-9," which is actually the title of a vintage newspaper comic strip and the name of its hero, created by Dashiell Hammett, and filmed twice by the studio responsible for these "Columbo" telefilms, Universal, as a Saturday matinee cliffhanger serial, in 1937 and 1945, although the first time they changed the character's name to "Dexter".

So it looks like Lt. Columbo is also part of the WN universe.

Henry, you are right, Phil said Shell Scott was likely a Wold Newton Family member, but he never outlined the lineage. I only meant that I wanted to tackle the specific lineage, not that I was planning on bringing Scott into the WNU. Of course I've always accepted Phil's statement that Scott was probably in the WNF, and thus I've already included the Shell Scott/Chet Drum crossover novel DOUBLE IN TROUBLE. :-) Dennis has also done quite a bit of work on Shell Scott, and we're going to work together to flesh out the genealogy. :-)
