Aha! I have every Trek comic, but couldn't remember the DC one you referred to... I'll add that one to the post, thanks!
I seem to recall seeing a variation using the red uniforms from the later films, but I can't remember where it was used (perhaps on a trade paperback?). I'll let you know if it comes back to me.
