The Worlds of Philip José Farmer 3 – Cover Reveal!

From my friends over at Meteor House:

"Here is a sneak peak at the brilliant cover art by Keith Howell (long-time Farmerphile and past Worlds of Philip José Farmer  artist) for The Worlds of Philip José Farmer 3: Portraits of a Trickster. The stellar lineup of contributors and contents will be announced shortly and we’ll begin taking orders for the book.

Just like the first two volumes in The Worlds of Philip José Farmer series, volume 3 contains fiction and non-fiction, new and old, by or about Philip José Farmer. However, Farmer’s Trickster nature took over this volume and it may not always be so easy to tell the fiction from the non-fiction, or even what is written by Farmer and what isn’t…"

I am hard at work on my next Wold Newton Origins tale for this volume (which will hopefully contain some surprises for all Wold Newton fans), and striving hard to deliver it so that Worlds of PJF 3 is out and available for FarmerCon VII/PulpFest 2012, in early August!

The Other Log of Phileas Fogg - new edition & podcast!

The Titan Books edition of The Other Log of Phileas Fogg  came out a few days ago, and here's what people are saying:

Christopher Paul Carey: "I must say, WOW! This is the classiest production of the book that I've seen. I was thinking it would be nice, but it exceeds my expectations: a matte finish and raised text on the cover, high-quality paper stock, classy design work on both the interior and exterior, not to mention the new afterword and timeline by Win. I give this edition an A+."

Art Sippo: "I just read the essay done by Win in The Other Log of Phileas Fogg Titan reprint. A terrific piece of work that actually links Philip Jose Farmer himself to the Wold Newton Universe and to many of the other characters in his stories. The detailed chronology is an extra added bonus. Great job, Win!"

The new edition also has the illustrations by Rick J. Bryant originally included in the early 1980s Tor edition, and is available in trade paperback and eBook.

Reminder for Philip José Farmer fans!

Just a reminder that Titan Books kicks off it's Wold Newton Series of Philip José Farmer reissues in two short weeks with the elder steampunk novel The Other Log of Phileas Fogg, due in bookstores on May 8!

I'm also pleased to announce that this edition contains the original interior illustrations by Rick J. Bryant found in the 1982 Tor Books edition.

Of course, H.W. Starr's addendum entitled "A Submersible Subterfuge, or Proof Impositve" is also included.

The Titan edition also includes two new pieces:

    • Afterword by Win Scott Eckert: "Only a Coincidence: Phileas Fogg, Philip José Farmer, and the Wold Newton Family"
(Family tree fans take note--this afterword has a new chart which is an extension of the Wold Newton Family tree charts found in Farmer's Tarzan Alive and Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life!)
    • Chronology by Win Scott Eckert: "A Chronology of Major Events Pertinent to The Other Log of Phileas Fogg
And if you already own a copy of the book, I can't put if better than my friend Mike Croteau, webmaster of the Official Philip José Farmer Home Page:

Let's face it, if you already own a copy (or several) of any of these titles, the bonus materials are why you are buying these books. The real key will be if new readers are attracted to the books and buy them (yea again for the great covers). If so, these bonus materials, most with an emphasis on the Wold Newton Universe and how the books are related to each other, should help make it so new readers don't stop at just one. How about this: Do Phil's memory a big favor and buy at least one of these titles just to give it to someone who has never read Farmer. See if you can't set the hook and reel them in. You know you would be doing them a great favor in the long run.

Order your copy now--and put the next book in the series, Time's Last Gift, on your list as well!

Exiles of Kho: A Tale of Lost Khokarsa!

    Exiles of Kho

    A Tale of Lost Khokarsa

    by Christopher Paul Carey

Hundreds of years before the hero Hadon sailed forth from his shining city of gold and jewels upon his legendary adventures, the heroine-priestess Lupoeth set out upon the decree of the oracle to discover a new land upon the untamed shores of ancient Africa’s southern sea. But Lupoeth finds herself little prepared for the trials ahead, as well as those that follow upon her heels—for the jealous  queen who wants her rival banished has appointed a worshiper of the sun god with a criminal past as the expedition’s priest, hoping to undermine the mission and seal its doom.

Now, lost in the deep jungle, Lupoeth must fight to keep her ill-equipped band of followers alive in the face of deadly beasts, savage Neanderthals, and conspiring enemies. Soon she finds the most accursed deity of her people’s faith, exiled from the empire by the Great Goddess Kho Herself, may be her only ally in this wild land. But Sahhindar, the god of Time and bronze, has a mysterious agenda of his own—one that Lupoeth fears might spell doom not only for her expedition, but for the entire world…

This limited edition novella will be signed by the author, Christopher Paul Carey, coauthor with Philip José Farmer of the third novel in the Khokarsa series. The print run will be determined by the number of preorders we receive by June 30, 2012. A very limited number of copies beyond the preorders will be printed.

*** As an added bonus ***
If you preorder by June 30, your name will appear in the book
    on a special acknowledgments page.
