Sherlock Holmes: The Crossovers Casebook

I am reliably informed by my pal Matthew Baugh that Sherlock Holmes: The Crossovers Casebook is now available. This was the last book edited by our friend Howard Hopkins before he passed away, and I can't wait to read it. The lineup of contributing writers is superb, and includes Baugh, Hopkins, Joe Gentile, Richard Dean Starr, Martin Gately, Will Murray, Don Roff, Chris Sequiera, Martin Powell, and Barbara Hambly.

My tale, "The Adventure of the Fallen Stone," involves Holmes with other detectives in the Sherlockian vein, Blake of Baker Street and Harry Dickson, as well as a Rohmerian femme fatale. Holmes' brother Mycroft has a significant role, and he sends the intrepid group off to the sleepy village of Wold Newton, where a certain meteor once fell.

The story also follows directly from the events of The Peerless Peer, which was edited for publication by Philip Jose Farmer, although you need not read Peer to enjoy and understand "The Fallen Stone."

THE GREEN HORNET: STILL AT LARGE pre-order and final covers

The third volume of short stories from Moonstone Books about the 1960s Green Hornet and Kato continues to move forward.

I revealed the final art for the limited edition hardcover by Rubén Procopio several months ago, and now I'm pleased to also show off the trade softcover by Douglas Klauba! (I'm also thrilled that I was able to purchase this painting from Mr. Klauba, and it will hang proudly in my basement Cave of Geek. :-)

The Green Hornet: Still at Large is edited by Joe Gentile, Win Scott Eckert, and Matthew Baugh, and will be available either June 30, or July 17, 2012, depending on which listing you believe. :-)

FarmerCon VII / Pulpfest 2012

I've finalized my plans to be at FarmerCon VII  / Pulpfest 2012 in August. I'll be at the Meteor House table, where I'll have copies of the new Titan Books editions of Philip Jose Farmer's Wold Newton books The Other Log of Phileas Fogg and Time's Last Gift, as well as Lord Tyger. I imagine I'll also have news about more Farmer reissues from Titan (hint, hint). My friend Christopher Paul Carey will be there promoting Gods of Opar.

I'll also have copies of the recent Tales of the Shadowmen 8: Agents Provocateurs (Black Coat Press) and I imagine Moonstone Books' Sherlock Holmes: The Crossovers Casebook will be out by then, so I'll bring copies. Lots of Wold-Newtony goodness in my stories in those volumes.

I also have hopes that Moonstone's The Green Hornet: Still at Large, which I'm co-editing with Joe Gentile and Matthew Baugh, will be out by then, although that's not confirmed yet. If it's available, of course I'll have copies with me.

Hope to see you there!

P.S. Stay tuned to this space; I hope to have an announcement about the new edition of The Other Log of Phileas Fogg soon!

The Green Hornet: Still at Large - "Progress"

Just in time to conclude 2011, I finalized my contribution to Moonstone Books' The Green Hornet: Still at Large today. My story is called "Progress," and it's a Britt/Casey tale which also features the return, in an unexpected way, of a villain from The Hornet's past (hint: the villain appeared in my story "Fang and Sting" from 2010's The Green Hornet Chronicles).

The Green Hornet: Still at Large is edited by Joe Gentile, Win Scott Eckert, and Matthew Baugh, and is due out from Moonstone in 2012 (more details and a solicit coming soon), with gorgeous covers by Ruben Procopio and Doug Klauba.

Happy New Year!

The Avenger returns to Moonstone!

From co-editor, and Avenger expert, Howard Hopkins:

"Interiors/galleys are finished and Moonstone Books' second all-original volume of Avenger short stories, The Justice, Inc. Files, is on its way to press! Besides co-editing, writing a story for the book and penning the introduction, I have also written six vignettes for the special hardcover edition, which, for this volume, will include the first three, each featuring one of The Avenger's associates. First up: Nellie Gray, Fergus MacMurdie & Cole Wilson. Writing these insights into Benson's band was a lot of fun, and tougher than I thought it would be. Exploring six individuals, all different, and getting into their heads left me a bit schizophrenic at times, but it has been a life long ambition to take a look behind what motivated these folks to join and stay with Richard Henry Benson, placing themselves in constant danger to help others.

The Avenger: The Justice, Inc. Files includes 14 original short stories by a line up of excellent authors and top notch stories that includes:

East Wind, Rain by Paul Kupperberg
Invisible Empire by Matthew Baugh
Vengeance, Inc. by Howard Hopkins
Whiteout by Robin Wayne Bailey
Happy Death Men by Win Scott Eckert
Vengeance is Mine by Ron Fortier
The Devil's Workman by Barry Reese
Dead Man's Vengeance by Eric Fein
The Breath of Destruction by Frank Schildiner
Devil's Dark Harvest by Christopher Paul Carey
Snow Blind by Mark Ellis
The Changeling by Will Murray
The Medicine Murders by B.C. Bell
The Blood Moon by David Michelinie

And for the first time anywhere, The Avenger, courtesy of Win Scott Eckert, will team-up with the lusty Domino Lady in one tale, and with The Master of Men, The Spider, in another--and against the Prince of the Undead, Dracula himself, from Iron Man scribe David Michelinie!

The softcover is painted by E.M. Gist, an extraordinarily talented artist (who is also doing the cover for the third Avenger volume, Tales from Bleek Street) with the hardcover special edition sporting a cover by Tom Gianni."

I'm immensely pleased to be a part of this book. What a lineup!

Green Hornet - '60s TV series marathon on SyFy!

The 1960s series The Green Hornet--featuring the versions of The Hornet and Kato seen here on the cover of Moonstone's The Green Hornet Chronicles (plug, plug)--will run in its entirety on SyFy Channel, all 26 episodes, on Tuesday January 11 (8 am-9 pm Mountain Time, check your local listings).

My DVR is set. :-)

Yes, I have 'em all on video tape, tapes off of television long ago.

And yes, I've found 'em on the web in
(--ahem--) various places. But I'm looking forward to watching these in HD--even if they might be edited for time.

Can an authorized DVD set be far behind?
